THE OLIVE BAR AND KITCHEN is a stylish elegant and natural world of simplicity – a mellow place to relax and unwind. Carefully designed by India’s noted Interior designer Nozer Wadia, this Mediterranean bar and restaurant is a sprawling, easy ambience where food, drink and talk come together, in an airy, comfortable and altogether beautiful new Mediterranean space.

Olive embodies the talent of four extremely talented and diverse individuals who are its owners. The vision and style of AD Singh, Sagarika’s eye for aesthetics and Henry Tham’s enviable expertise in the restaurant business combine seamlessly with Martin D’Costa’s talent for Event management, to make Olive an experience to be lived and re-lived.

The concept of new Mediterranean cuisine was new when Olive was formed. No one had forayed into this realm of cuisine before. The unique culinary style, the cuisine served at the kitchen is indeed a rich experience. The flavors, spices and herbs are fresh and the ingredients, sourced from the vast Mediterranean coastline between the countries and island nations of Southern Europe, Asia Minor and North Africa are skillfully prepared. In the past year Olive has been very successful in creating a loyal patronage and is universally acknowledged as the most favored restaurant in the North of Mumbai. Both food connoisseurs and chroniclers in the media have acknowledged it as one of the four premium locations in Mumbai and the only one situated in the North of the city for both cuisine and ambience- a fact that is proven from its very successful occupancy rates since inception.

The Olive kitchen has its menu based on char-grilled churasco’s, homemade pastas, fresh vegetables and grilled fish dressed with fresh Mediterranean herbs and Olive oil. This method of cooking is unique to Olive and has become a favorite with patrons.

As the popularity of the restaurant grew, Olive’s patrons insisted on a Sunday brunch. Though Sunday lunch is an afternoon affair it never keeps food lovers away from hosting afternoon parties at the Olive. The grill night on Sunday titled Love is a gentle thing. Are reserved for a mix of good spirits select company and soul stirring Jazz music.

Olive also awes its success to its simple yet elegant attire. It wears a minimal look and has been appreciated for its interiors. To cater to those whose style is opulent and more gregarious Olive has recently introduced a theme space to small private soirees. Creating a space around the influence from Morocco the space called the Tent is styled differently from the main restaurant as is its cuisine giving people one more offering within the same space. The tent’s carpeted floors, cozy divan and gas lamps- all in all a gay colorful look along the Mezze Platters and hookahs are an experience that can only be had at Mumbai in Olive.

Carrying on the concept of theme nights, Olive also introduced the Moulin Rouge Masquerade, where the grandeur of Moulin Rouge is re created. Enkeeping with the Mediterranean tradition, Olive started Casa de Tapas nights, which brought the flamboyance of Spain into Mumbai on Tuesday nights. Tapas like garlicky chicken sautéed in Olive and oil, artichokes marinated in balsamic vinegar, scrumptious shrimp salads to name a few were devoured with the different intoxicating sangrias that keep you asking for more.

As a part of its plans to promote art and culture, Olive has introduced the Tapas night, which brings to its customers Mediterranean art, a natural extension to its ambience. Titled Spanish Impressions, the event has featured the designer sculptor duo, Jaideep Mehrotra and Arjun Khanna and photographer Ishika Mohan.

The restaurants creative interior, chic and friendly atmosphere, unobtrusively stylish, has struck the right balance between camaraderie and intimacy amongst all our patrons which include, the more successful people in every field. Well known columnist like Shobha De, Anil Dharker and the late busybee, who was even inspired to write about the restaurant in his magazine Upper Crust, appreciate spending their evenings at the restaurant. It is also patronized by India’s leading personalities from every field including cinema, business, sports and royalty. These include Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Shahrukh Khan and members of the Royal family of Bhutan.

Olive has many more plans to promote art and culture whilst simultaneously introducing additions to its menu with some more innovative cuisine from the region and intoxicating cocktails.
